Decomposed Granite Binder & Stabilizer Decomposed Granite is an elegant addition to any landscape. Primarily used for paths, walkways, and driveways, this sophisticated material is a striking tan color that packs extremely well. Its rustic, natural appearance is a beautiful complement to landscapes and provides a stable base that can be treated with polymers to set the color and reduce track-ability or can be left as is for an organic, high-end feel. Common applications of Stabilized Decomposed Granite and Crushed Stone Fines include hiking trails, bike paths, fire lanes, garden paths, patios, or any other application that want a natural-looking surface.
There are 2 primary groups of stabilizer materials; Psyllium binder agents; Dry powders that are blended into the decomposed granite or crushed stone fines prior to installation of the materials. The material we sell is effectively or literally the same as every other psyllium binder agent sold or used by all other companies in our industry. D. G. Stabilizer & Binder is a highly effective material for building stabilized decomposed granite and crushed stone pathways that can be certified ADA compliant. We do not think this is needed for residential decomposed granite installations but that is just our opinion. Crushed Stone Fine materials used in residential pathways may benefit greatly for the use of D. G. Stabilizer and Binder since crushed stone fines do not bind up naturally like true decomposed granite.
Liquid Polymer agents; These are "liquid glues" that are blended into the decomposed granite or crushed stone fines during the installation of the materials. When the finished material dries it becomes very hard. G-3 Pathway Stabilizer and TerraKoat are the leading materials in this group in the industry.
