- Tons vs. Yards and Square Feet.
In most cases, we charge by the ton and we have the receipts from the scale house at the quarry to show upon request. Materials sold by the yard tend to have very in-accurate amounts in the trucks. Amounts depend on the size of the loader bucket, how well the material was scooped up and who was supervising the loading of the truck. Scale House totals don't lie, so why take a chance on losing money and time with how many square feet, scoops, skips, and or dumps were made in loading the truck? Architects, public agencies, contractors, and owner-builders requiring a competitive bid for the materials and transport costs should E-mail us with material specifications, amount and date needed, and buyers' contact information. . Features
- DeGe Pathway Binder & Stabilizer 2000 Lbs is a dry flowable stabilizer for decomposed granite (DG) crushed rock fines pathways and planter beds. It provides cross-linking stability and reduces dust and tracking of loose materials on residential and light commercial foot traffic applications. G3 is environmentally friendly, VOC-free, and safe for use around people, animals, and landscaping. Primarily used for paths, walkways, and driveways, this material packs extremely well.
The best results from mixing any binding agent with rock materials come from obtaining a detailed "sieve analysis" from a soils laboratory. The reality in the landscape industry is that this rarely ever happens. The next reality is that an overwhelming amount of binder blended material is done on the ground through "loader mixing." There are few companies at select locations using advanced pugmill blenders to get exact ratios with their binders to rock material but that is the exception, not the rule. Just the hauling of material from another region for blending at fix site is usually cost-prohibitive. So using a small or large tractor loader to mix the dry stabilizer is the common practice at nearly every quarry, landscape materials yard, or job site. Rates of Use DeGe Pathway Binder & Stabilizer mixes with any decomposed granite or crushed rock fine or even topsoil. The standard industry practice on rates of use varies from 7 to 12 pounds of binder per ton of earth material. Ironically the more pure and higher quality the decomposed granite is, the more binder is needed, so Champagne Rose Decomposed Granite will require 10 to 12 pounds of binder per ton of material, whereas Black Hawk D.G. will only 7 to 9 pounds of binder per ton of material. The best results from mixing any binding agent with decomposed granite or crushed rock fines will come from making a test sample and making any increases of the DeGe Pathway Binder & Stabilizer material based upon the cured hardness of the test sample. We suggest a 2-foot x 2 foot framed box made from 2" x 4". See Spec Sheet For More Details. Decomposed Granite Per Ton As a general rule of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover a little over 90 square feet of a ground area at a 3-inch layer. Decomposed Granite Per Yard As a general rule, 1 cubic yard of 3/8" or 1/4" of crushed stone or decomposed granite material will cover 110 square feet in a 3-inch layer. A cubic yard of moist crushed stone fines or decomposed granite material weighs more or less 3,000 pounds.
